2010 BMW 5-Series GT by AC Schnitzer
Posted by: | CommentsComfort meets Power: Grand Tour with the 5-series GT by AC Schnitzer
“Gran Turismo” means “Grand Tour”, and this is the principle behind the 5-series GT by AC Schnitzer. The performance upgrade from 245 to 286 HP for the six-cylinder 530d already gives the standard car more pulling power and racing flair, which is demonstrated externally by the AC Schnitzer engine styling with capacity logo.
Yet the 5-series GT by AC Schnitzer doesn’t just bring a gleam to the eyes of BMW fans, but acoustically it delivers what the aesthetics promise at first glance. The AC Schnitzer twin sports rear silencer is the ideal tuning product for drivers with an appreciation of engine sound, to whom design elements such as the chromed “Sports Trim” tailpipe trims and the chromed “Racing” tailpipe trim are equally important.
Impressive comfort in driving behaviour, even on dynamic driving on twisty roads, is achieved by the AC Schnitzer suspension spring set. The tuning by the Aachen specialists makes the 5-series GT convincing in every speed range thanks to its superb agility. Two tonnes of unladen weight are irrelevant when the car is glued to the tarmac by the AC Schnitzer front and rear spoilers. Bonnet Vents with chromed centre web combine individual design with sophisticated engineering. The side lines are subtly emphasised by the AC Schnitzer side skirts, and the flowing dynamics of the coupé-like roof line are further enhanced by the AC Schnitzer rear skirt.
The comfort of the Gran Turismo took priority in the fundamental architecture of the BMW 5-series GT. So the specialists at AC Schnitzer completed the stylish elegance of the interior with a cover for the i-Drive System Controller, foot rest and pedal set in aluminium. Behind the frameless doors, velours footmats and boot mat welcome the driver.
To enjoy a “Grand Tour”, the passengers must be well supported, so the silver AC Schnitzer wheels Type IV in 19″ or the BiColor Version in 19″ and 20″ provide the perfect conditions technically and visually for an extraordinary trip. With the AC Schnitzer wheels Type VII in silver and BiColor in 22″ and the alloy forged wheels in Type V in 20″ and 22″, the drive is even more firmly planted. Another ideal choice is the brand-new Type VIII rims in 19″ or the racing forged alloys Type VIII in 22″. The new wheel with its double spokes in BiColor Finish is an evolution of the well-known Type VI wheel. All wheels are available with suitable tyres.
Driving comfort and performance at the highest level - that’s the promise from the 5-series GT by AC Schnitzer - a promise which is guaranteed to be kept on the next “Grand Tour”.
2010 BMW X6 M by Lumma Design
Posted by: | CommentsCLR X 650 M – that is the name of the BMW X6M after it underwent a rejuvenation by LUMMA Design. Instead of the serial 555 hp (408 kW), the V8-engine now renders powerful 650 hp (478 kW). Also, LUMMA Design increases the maximum torque from 680 to breathtaking 830 Newton meters.
Thereby, the top speed rises to 312 kph. This enormous performance enhancement of the BMW is owed to the catalyst replacement pipes, the sports exhaust system and the adjusted engine electronics which LUMMA Design especially optimised for this automobile in elaborate tests. The matching sound for this newly gained power is rendered by the end muffler “Sportsound” with its four stainless steel end pipes measuring 100 millimetres in diameter.
Aerodynamics kit and undercarriage enhance the performance
Matching the increased performance, the CLR X 650 M presents itself confidently with a broad aerodynamics kit. Already the new front skirt with the LED daytime running lights leaves no doubt for the bold appearance of the refined BMW. The wheel house extensions and the side skirt confirm the dynamic look which is further enhanced by 40 millimetre lowered undercarriage. The rear skirt, the boot lid top and the rear spoiler lip render a harmonious transformation. The great attention to detail used by the designers from Winterlingen in Germany, shows in a wide range of refinement, such as lateral indicator covers or the varnished sports-look carbon bonnet. Also the headlight blinds and the shaded rear light set contribute to the dynamic appearance.
For ideal road grip, there are four 315 millimetres wide ultra high-performance tyres by Michelin which are fitted to 11×23 inch Blackline Monoblock rims. The dynamic look of the voluminous black rims stems from the multipart look and the outer well made of stainless steel. This impression is further enhanced by varnished brake callipers which poke out between the spokes.
LUMMA Design also developed the interior as dynamic and performance-oriented as the new exterior. Leather and ultra-suede can be found for example at the ergonomically formed sports steering wheel. Rails made of orange-coloured carbon and pedals and foot rests made of aluminium moreover indicate the vitality of this automobile. The same applies for the illuminated door sills with the lettering “CLR X 650 M“ and the extended speedometer range up to 360 kph displaying the LUMMA-Logo.
LUMMA Design confirms its love for detail also in the interior. Both the floor mats and also the boot mat are made of velour, have a leather edging and are adorned with the LUMMA coat of arms logo. The type plate with the consecutive serial number enhances the exclusive character of the CLR X 650 M. BMW’s plan to build a sporty SUV has been perfectly completed by LUMMA Design. The automobile is already serially equipped with a powerful engine, but it only starts turning into a thoroughbred sports car as a CLR X 650 M.

2010 BMW 760i STORM by G-Power
Posted by: | CommentsM-Feeling for the BMW “Luxusliner” - thanks to the G-POWER manufactory
After the large success of the two world record cars G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS and G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS which with their 750 hp strong 5,0l V10 bi-compressor engine can be only obtained as a complete vehicle via the G-POWER manufactory, the so-called “G-POWER Supercars” will become an inherent part of the future G-POWER programme. The G-POWER manufactory is a strongly growing business branch of the company G-POWER in which all individually produced complete vehicles, the so-called “G-POWER Supercars” are produced as an inherent part of the G-PWER programme and are entirely made by hand.
The company philosophy of the G-POWER manufactory which solely produces its automobiles in limited edition, is 100% customer dedication as far as the features and the strictly limited edition of the G-POWER Supercars are concerned and also the entire revision of the individual basic engines with the clear objective to produce the strongest and fastest BMW model in the world.
The latest masterpiece and an impressive example for the exceptional performance of the G-POWER manufactory is the G-POWER 760i STORM which now closes a gap in the BMW programme: M-Feeling for the BMW “Luxusliner”.
Due to customer preference, G-POWER, so far predominantly well known on modifying the potent BMW M models, has now focused on the BMW flagship in the luxury segment and developed an overall concept which optimally adjusts aerodynamics, rims and increased engine performance.
The core part of the G-POWER performance enhancement for the 6,0l V12 bi-turbo engine is a substantial modification of both “TwinPower” turbo chargers used by BMW. In co-operation with the compressor manufacturer ASA which can rely on 20 years experience in developing and producing radial compressors (basically, radial compressors are turbo charger compressor units which are put into motion by the crankshaft via a belt driven transmission), the performance of both turbo chargers was significantly improved without affecting their endurance.
As a result, the maximum boost pressure of 0.5 bar (relative) rises to 0.9 bar (relative). Flanking measures at the engine ensure that the increasing boost pressure can also be transformed into according extra power. Therefore, additional 181 hp (133 KW) are gained which enhance the overall performance to strong 725 hp at 5,500 r.p.m and render the maximum torque of 1000 Nm at already 2,000 r.p.m. In order to achieve this impressive extra performance, larger injection valves and an entirely new exhaust system for the reduction of dynamic pressure including the therefore necessary sports catalysers have been added, et al. A re-programmed engine control and significant modifications at BMW´s serial 8-speed transmission perfect the overall package harmoniously.
The enormous performance potential of the BMW V12 bi-turbo engine modified by G-POWER allows the G-POWER 760i driving performances which catapult it into the top range of its vehicle class. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h only takes 4.2 seconds. After 11.9 seconds, already 200 km/h are achieved. The top speed is 345 km/h.
But not only due to its enormous performance, the G-POWER 760i STORM propels to the top of its vehicle class, also the visual appearance of the aerodynamics kit which was exclusively developed for the STORM by G-POWER, underlines the exceptional quality of this G-POWER Supercar. Thereby, the aerodynamics pack in the brand-typical design is not only an end in itself, but it also improves the cold air supply to the cooling water and oil coolers at the vehicle front due to the enlarged air inlets at the front skirt and the vent holes in the bonnet. Due to these changes, the overall cooling performance has been increased by approx. 15 percent - a basis for the thermally always harmless performance enhancement.
The most outstanding component of the G-POWER aerodynamics kit for the BMW 760i, is the strikingly styled front skirt made of carbon fibre which entire replaces the original part. It gives the serially unobtrusive front of the current BMW 7-model the necessary aggressiveness which an automobile with 725 hp and a top speed of 345 km/h requires. Due to the elaborate shape, the aerodynamic lifting forces at the front axles were able to be reduced. Another highlight is the G-POWER STORM bonnet made of Kevlar hybrid which has a central Venturi engine compartment ventilation for the operation and two lateral ABS grids for the ventilation when the car stands still and guarantees an improved discharge of hot air from both turbo chargers out of the engine compartment and shapes the new face of the BMW 760i.
The G-POWER full carbon add-ons for the serial side skirts and the doors render a visual harmonious connection between the wheel houses by visually stretching the silhouette of the BMW 7-model. The wheel houses themselves are filled with forged three-part G-POWER SILVERSTONE RS aluminium wheels measuring 9.5×22 and 10.5×22 inches which are equipped with high-performance tyres of the development partner Michelin in the dimensions 265/30 ZR 22 at the front axle and 295/25 ZR 22 at the rear axle. Set up this way, the G-POWER 760i STORM always renders an optimal traction and a sporty handling which is additionally improved by the G-POWER sports spring set and a lowering by 30 mm.
At the rear, a full carbon rear spoiler and a full carbon diffuser which elegantly emphasise the 4 x 100 mm end pipes with integrated G-POWER logo generate more downforce at the rear axle and at the same time visually enhance the back section.
G-POWER refines the interior of the BMW 760i with exclusive accessories such as an ergonomically shaped sports steering wheel, a speedometer in G-POWER design and fine carbon rails for the side casing, central console and dashboard. Further customer wishes for exclusive interiors can always be fulfilled by the G-POWER manufactory with all possible leather- and ultra-suede colours.
The G-POWER 760i STORM is only available in a strictly limited small edition of only 10 automobiles world-wide from the G-POWER manufactory in Autenzell.
2010 BMW M3 E92 Compressor by Manhart
Posted by: | CommentsManhart have released the 2010 BMW M3 Compressor with 655 HP.
M3 with up to 655 HP! What Paul Rosche was for BMW in formula 1 in the 1980s, that’s what Günter Manhart is for the BMW tuning scene now, namely the undisputed motor pope. For decades he developed the BMW power trains for many renowned tuners, but remained completely incognito. But that has come to an end because for a few months now, Manhart is storming the tuning charts with sensational compressor and V10 reconstructions and even successfully competed in the high speed circuit at Nardo, Italy, with his M3 E91 Touring with V10 motor (an absolute unique).
3x compressor power! For the current M3 generation Manhart offers a 3 stage power package, which strengthens the eight cylinder high speed motor to up to 655 HP. Of course with the standard 420 HP you are not exactly under-motorised, but a car fan can never have too much power. The first power stage starts with a small compressor and a supercharging pressure of 0.35 bar, which gives you 515 HP. In stage II the supercharging pressure is increased to 0.50 bar, whereby 585 HP is straining on the rear axle. In the third and largest build-up stage a large compressor from ASA with a supercharging pressure of 0.67 bar is combined with a specially developed exhaust system with 70 millimeter pipe diameter and two 200 cell race catalytic convertors – and the whole thing is made from TITANIUM. With this, a full 655 HP are at the start which catapult the Bavarian power athlete from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds. The top speed is just over 350km/h.
Classic BBS wheels! However, power alone is not everything, because so much power wants to and must be converted into propulsion. In order to do this without too much loss, Manhart Racing used a Bilstein PSS10 threaded suspension into the vehicle shown here, on the end of which turn classic BBS challenge rims in black. With 9Jx20 ET20 with 245/30ZR20 at the front and 10.5Jx20 ET20 with 295/25ZR20 continental tyres at t he rear they ensure grandiose grip at all times. In order that this power can be kept perfectly in check, 365mm brake discs are used on the front axle with floating callipers from the BMW M5 E60 and the braking system from the M3 E92 with 345mm discs are used on the rear axle.
BMW Performance!
The interior is a nice mix of sportiness and luxurious ambience, thanks to full leather fittings in Alcantara/leather combination, the wonderful performance seats with seat heating and an exclusive performance steering wheel with LED display which shows temperature, transverse acceleration and ¼ mile times. And of course there is a real switch guide plate with six channels to be inserted manually, which is how racing drivers like it.
Power for X6 M and X5 M & high end exhaust technology
Also new to Manhart Racing are increased performances for the new offroad steam hammers X6 M and X5 M. Manhart Racing endows their 4.4 litre V8 with BI turbo supercharging optionally with 600 HP (€5,900), 650 HP (€9,900) or even 700 HP (€14,900). A stainless steel exhaust from the turbocharger with 90mm pipe diameter as well as square or round, 86 or 90mm diameter end pipes are obligatory for all three power stages, at the price of €4,900.
For the M3 E92 Manhart Racing also has high quality exhaust technology at hand. The in-house exhaust system from the heaers has a constant diameter of 70mm and ends with four 82mm end pieces. In the “stainless steel” version (€2,490) it produces extra power of around 18 HP and a booming sound. Even more luxurious: the “TITANIUM” version which not only generates 25 additional HP but also has a weight advantage of 50% compared to the standard technology.
Technical data

Standard feature: Eight-speed automatic transmission with optimised shifting dynamics and unmatched efficiency.
All new BMW X5 model variants are equipped as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new transmission combines shifting comfort, sporting characteristics and efficiency at an unprecedented level. It contributes even more significantly towards a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions than the six-speed automatic transmission featured in previous BMW X5 vehicles. The new eight-speed automatic transmission is characterised by minimum converter slip and an innovative gear set configuration that permits additional drive positions and a greater transmission ratio spread without having negative effects on size, weight and the system’s intrinsic efficiency.
Intelligent BMW xDrive four-wheel drive technology: Fast response and precision for enhanced driving dynamics and optimised traction.
Permanent four-wheel drive with electronically-controlled variable torque distribution between front and rear axles not only gives the new BMW X5 supreme traction on off-road terrain, but also superior driving dynamics on tarmac.
BMW xDrive technology was initially featured in the first-generation BMW X5 and has since then been constantly refined. It is an intelligent four-wheel drive system that uses a transfer box with an electronically controlled multi-disc clutch to constantly feed power as required to the axle that has the best contact with the road surface. As a result, xDrive also enhances driving stability when taking bends at higher speeds as it anticipates any tendency to oversteer or understeer and counteracts these forces effectively.
In normal driving situations, BMW xDrive distributes drive forces to the front and rear axles in a 40:60 split. Sensors constantly measure slip on all wheels. Within a fraction of a second, the system is able to vary the power distribution ratio. As opposed to previous four-wheel drive systems, BMW xDrive also reacts anticipatorily and does not wait until a wheel begins to spin.
Therefore, the vehicle is stabilised before the driver even notices the need to take action. Thanks to a new, more neutrally interpreted basic configuration, BMW xDrive featured in the new BMW X5 contributes even more significantly towards an increase in driving dynamics. Even during stable cornering, drive power is shifted to the rear axle, transferring up to 80 percent of power to the rear wheels. After cornering, the system returns to the normal setting to ensure optimum traction.
Precisely controlled coordination of xDrive and DSC.
Fast and precise adjustment of drive power distribution is guaranteed by the combined efforts of xDrive and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) within the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM). This combination is also complemented by the optionally available, revised Active Steering system.
The stabilising effect of the variable distribution of power reduces the necessity for the DSC system to intervene. The selective braking of individual wheels and a reduction in engine output are not required until the threshold is reached. Additional DSC functions include the ABS antilock braking system, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), a trailer stability control system, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Automatic Differential Brake (ADB), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). Moreover, the system comprises brake drying in wet conditions, the hill-start assistant, fading compensation as well as the standard cruise control system with braking function featured. The special mode Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) raises the tolerance of DSC, thereby facilitating an exceptionally sporting and active style of driving as well as the setting off in deep snow or loose sand with controlled drive wheel spin.
The BMW X5 is also equipped with a parking brake that uses both an electro-mechanical and a hydraulic function activated or released at the push of a button. The parking brake features an Auto Hold function that enhances comfort above all in stop-and-go traffic situations.
High-performance suspension technology and steering with standard Servotronic function. Optional Active Steering.
The suspension technology used on the new BMW X5 is the ideal prerequisite for supreme driving dynamics on tarmac. The suspension of the Sports Activity Vehicle features a double-wishbone front axle and a lightweight integral rear axle. The additionally available rear-axle air suspension, including automatic self-levelling, ensures a consistent ride height and unaltered driving characteristics at all times, regardless of load conditions.
The new BMW X5’s rack-and-pinion steering comes as standard with the Servotronic function for speed-dependent power steering. Furthermore, an active steering function is available which additionally varies steering transmission according to speed. Therefore, less steering wheel movement and effort are required when parking, whilst at high speeds a more indirect behaviour is achieved and the effect of power steering reduced in order to enhance directional stability and ride comfort.
Optimum supremacy with Adaptive Drive.
A combination of active body-roll stabilisation and variable damping control incorporated into the Adaptive Drive system is the guarantee of unparalleled supremacy within the BMW X5 competitive environment. With the aid of sensors, Adaptive Drive permanently monitors and calculates data on the road speed, steering angle, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, body and wheel velocity as well as height levels. This information is used to control the swivel motors on the anti-roll bars and the electro-magnetic shock-absorber valves. In this way body roll is reduced and damping is constantly regulated according to the current driving situation. The FlexRay high-speed data transmission system is used for fast and reliable coordination.
High-performance brake system and tyres with emergency running properties.
The BMW X5’s high performance brake system guarantees outstanding stopping power. Newly conceived lightweight brakes with 385 mm discs at the front and an aluminium floating caliper construction on the front and rear axles of the top-of-the-range BMW X5 xDrive50i ensure extreme stability and maximum braking comfort.
Standard features on the new BMW X5 also include 19-inch light-alloy wheels on the BMW X5 xDrive50i and 18-inch light alloys on all other variants respectively. The range of optionally available light-alloys for the new BMW X5 is complemented by three variants with a Y-spoke design and wheels in the sizes 19 and 20 inch respectively. Runflat safety tyres, also supplied as standard, allow the driver to continue his or her journey and reach a garage even in the event of a total loss of tyre pressure. Depending on the load condition, it is possible to continue driving for a distance of between 50 and 250 kilometres. Furthermore, the tyre defect indicator permanently monitors the tyre pressure.
Highly rigid body structure, comprehensive occupant protection.
Like all BMW X models, the new BMW X5 has an extremely rigid body that – despite of its high degree of torsional stiffness – has an optimum weight thanks to intelligent lightweight construction. For the benefit of passive safety, the forces acting on the vehicle during an accident are passed on via the engine supports and chassis along various load paths, keeping them away from the stable passenger cell.
In addition to front and hip/thorax airbags, the interior of the new BMW X5 comes as standard with side curtain head airbags. It also features three-point automatic seat belts for all seats, belt force limiters, belt tensioners and crash-active headrests at the front as well as the ISOFIX child seat system for the second-row seats. All occupant restraint systems are centrally and electronically controlled. In the event of an imminent roll-over, roll-over sensors ensure that the curtain airbags and the belt tensioners are activated.
Unique in the competitive environment: New BMW ConnectedDrive driver assistance systems.
As part of BMW ConnectedDrive, the new BMW X5 offers a multitude of unique driver assistance systems and services for optimising comfort and safety as well as for the use of infotainment functions. Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function is available as an alternative to the standard cruise control system with braking function. It additionally comprises Automatic Distance Control which allows for relaxed cruising in motorway or overland traffic, also ensuring that the selected distance from the vehicle ahead is maintained in low-speed stop-and-go traffic. If the selected distance from the vehicle ahead is insufficiently maintained, the system automatically makes the necessary adjustments by intervening into the car control system and by building up brake pressure. If required, the vehicle can be brought safely to a complete standstill. After a short stop, the system automatically sets the car in motion again. If the vehicle stops longer than desired, the driver can restart the car by pressing either a button or by actuating the accelerator pedal.
The Lane Departure Warning feature also available for the BMW X5 is able to identify unintentional drifting from the lane at a speed of at least 70 km/h. The system consists of a camera, which is installed on the windscreen in the vicinity of the rear-view mirror, a control unit for data synchronisation and a pulse emitter that activates a gentle but unmistakeable vibration on the steering wheel. The camera detects the markings on at least one lane. A control unit calculates the position of the vehicle in relation to these markings. The system also works in bends, on narrow lanes and in the dark as soon as the headlights are switched on.
Furthermore, the Speed Limit Info function can also be used in conjunction with the Lane Departure Warning and the navigation system Professional. This function offers the driver the possibility to obtain information regarding the route he is currently on. The camera used for the Lane Departure Warning permanently monitors road signs as well as variable overhead gantry signs on motorways.
A further technical innovation within the BMW ConnectedDrive range is the Side View system. It comprises two cameras that are integrated into the front wings, permitting observation of cross traffic. The images are transferred to the control display, making it possible at an early stage to identify traffic coming from the left or right, particularly when driving through a narrow gate or leaving a multi-storey car park.
Also available for the BMW X5 are the Head-Up Display, with which driver-relevant information is projected onto the windscreen within the driver’s field of vision, the High-Beam Assistant and Adaptive Headlights, including cornering lights, variable light distribution and adaptive auto-levelling. Further equipment options are Park Distance Control and a reversing camera, including the Surround View system. In addition, with BMW Assist, BMW Online, BMW TeleServices and innovative remote functions, BMW ConnectedDrive also offers the world’s most unique choice of mobility services relating to traffic information, emergency calls, vehicle, information and office services, travel and leisure time planning as well as the Internet. Optimised utilisation of telecommunication and entertainment systems is guaranteed, inter alia, by the full integration of external cell phones and music players.
