Jaguar S Type R by Panzani Design

Jaguar S Type R by Panzani Design

To begin with, even if you have all recognized despite the facelift, the base is that of the S-Type, but not any: it is the R version with the baddest of the range Jaguar engine, the V8 4.2 credited with almost 300 hp .

“Everything is born from the desire to give new heart to a more dated Jaguar S-Type R supercharged. But how? Not a simple dress of fiberglass, not something that could just embellish. Upset was the watchword. The Vintage GT wants to be something really new, a style that does not exist and must be reinvented every time, following feelings and heart. ” Word of Panzani Alessandro designer of the car since the beginning of the work.

The standard S-Type had its distinctive features, distinguishing marks that had already introduced something new era in the Jaguar: a dynamic and sporty line, and the unmistakable oval grille and trim the tail. The ability of the body Panzani was to adhere to these tenets, twisting everything that’s around: carrozeria the building has been completely re-used in sheet metal components entirely ad hoc, staying perfectly on the original anchors. The wheel arches have been widened to 10 cm on both axes and connected perfectly on the new bumper: In the front there are two large air intakes that balance the aesthetic balance of flashy Jaguar grille, and above all optimize the flow of water towards The braking system which – as we shall see later – was obviously increased.

Another key hallmark of the S-Type has been met with fist in defiance of the dictates of fashion, they always want a facelift to the look of the creatures, the headlights have been kept original and only covered with metal grilles that recall the wise racing cars of the ’70s.

The only concession to modernity that have been granted is a pair of emitting LED daytime slots at the bottom of the bumper.

The mirrors are a gem: small, round, perfectly integrated in the doors and especially very old style. There’s past has been preserved also in the choice of the cap of gasoline, now fully exposed.

While respecting the oval of the moldings, the actions on the queue status are more invasive: in this case, for example, the original lights were replaced by two elements led to 180mm in diameter and well in the bumper has been build a new extractor Maranello air style that has “imposed” the choice of a central outlet to double output of 100mm in diameter. The ultimate in sophistication was reserved for the body color, a particular composition studied from the center of the Panzani Design style: it is a gray / lava intense and full bodied, a very uniform grain and then treated with a transparent finish.

And ‘perhaps worth remembering that the S-Type was a milestone not only in terms of style for Jaguar but also for the substance: the set-up sense of dynamism and the suspension was already set tuned for high speeds.

The structure of Vintage GT was even more extreme, with a lowering of 40mm on both axes, and an enhanced braking system with discs and calipers with 4 pistons plus. A body so impressive, then, could only take appropriate wheel groups: OZ rims 10 “x 20″ front and 12 “x 20″ rear, on which they were keyed respectively 255/35 and 305/30 tires.

The restyling of the interior, already rich and embracing her, was played in the name of honor, with Alcantara and leather by stitching sewn diamond for the dashboard, upholstery, air and many details.

It exploits the XK’s strong, lightweight aluminium body architecture to maximise both handling and economy. Alongside its incredible performance, the XKR-S is the only car in its class that emits less than 300g/km CO2.

Bespoke suspension changes to the front and rear offer ultimate precision, control and driver appeal, while a reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system allows the enthusiastic driver to explore the edges of the handling envelope.

Full details, images and video of the XKR-S will be available on Geneva press day – March 1.

Alongside the exciting new XKR-S, Jaguar will be marking the 50th anniversary of the E-Type with the first in a series of celebrations that take place during 2011.

Jaguar will be hosting E-Type drives at the Parc des Eaux Vives in Geneva, where the original car was launched by the marque’s founder Sir William Lyons half a century ago.

The appeal of E-Type transcended the automotive world. Such is the inherent rightness of its proportions, stance and purity of line, that it is a permanent exhibit in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Its influence is still apparent in Jaguar’s modern range – products that offer a peerless blend of performance, comfort, cutting-edge technology and award-winning design.

“It is impossible to overstate the impact the E-Type had,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director. “Here was a car that encapsulated the spirit of the revolutionary era it came to symbolise. We’re looking forward to celebrating achievement and looking forward with our all-new sports cars in Geneva.”
