Shelby American limits production to only 350 for 2013 MY

Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. (CSBI:PK), has announced the changes for its limited edition 2013 Shelby GT350. New color options, visual styling cues and optional performance upgrades will distinguish the third model year of Shelby GT350 production from previous model year cars. The 2013 Shelby GT350 will be available as either a coupe or convertible in the entire color palette offered by Ford Motor Company on the Mustang.
“The Shelby GT350 is one of the world’s most celebrated and iconic modern muscle cars,” said John Luft, president of Shelby American. “For the third model year of the contemporary Shelby GT350, we’ve further refined the car with options and equipment requested by enthusiasts. The Shelby American team is following Carroll Shelby’s playbook to continue building high performance cars and parts designed to keep our customers at the front of the fast lane.”
For the first (2011) model year Shelby GT350, the coupes were clad in white with blue stripes, just as Shelby American did with the initial car in 1965. In 2012, three more colors (red, blue and anniversary black/gold), as well as a convertible option were offered; this is similar to the options offered by Shelby American in 1966.
For the 2013 model year, Shelby American again matches tradition with expanded color options, equipment choices and styling changes, while performance improvements remain intact. The GT350 will be available in all of Ford’s standard colors offered on the Mustang: Grabber Blue, Sterling Gray Metallic, “Gotta Have It” Green, Candy Red Tint Coat Metallic, Ingot Silver Metallic, “Deep Impact” Blue Metallic (replaces Kona Blue Metallic), Race Red, Performance White and Black. Customers can choose between Satin Black or Gloss White stripes (a first since 1970) or Azure Blue Metallic on Performance White and Ingot Silver Metallic vehicles to be paired with new wheels in Satin Black or Bright Silver Metallic. Other styling cues for 2013 include a glass roof option, Recaro Seats and a modified custom rear valance.
“The Shelby GT350′s rich history is well-documented,” added Shelby American Vice President of Production Gary Davis. “People who value that heritage asked us to repeat Shelby history with new options this year. We did that and stayed true to our commitment for performance with a no-comprise car that honors Carroll Shelby and our past.”
The Shelby GT350 is a post-title program based on the Ford Mustang GT. The 2013 Shelby GT350 performance specs will be continued from the 2012 model year. Customers can choose a 430 HP normally aspirated, and either a Ford Racing supercharged 525 HP or 624 HP version. An automatic transmission is optional with the normally aspirated engine, while a short throw shifter is standard for the manual on any of the models. For 2013, options include a one piece drive shaft, more powerful brakes, cooling enhancements, interior upgrades and a color coordinated billet aluminum engine cap set. A new cold air package for the normally aspirated engine will be available to boost the GT350′s output to about 450 horsepower.
The 2013 Shelby GT350 post-title package starts at $26,995.00 (normally aspirated) and $33,995.00 (supercharged), not including the base car. Only 350 of the cars will be built, all at the Shelby American factory in Las Vegas. 2012 GT350′s are still available with great incentive’s being offered for the base vehicle by Ford. 2011 Geiger Ford Mustang Shelby GT640 Golden Snake Announced

2011 Geiger Ford Mustang Shelby GT640 Golden Snake

Anybody who was once able to drive a Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500, knows of what earthy power outbreaks the current generation of this automobile legend is capable of even when it operates with factory settings: smoking rear tires are not a problem even in higher gears and, once incited, the GT500 becomes a wild animal. Logically, it has its radiator grill with very good reason: the cobra with a widened sign on the neck stands for pure aggressiveness.

Based on this power vehicle, US car specialist GeigerCars.de from Munich now placed the company’s youngest show car on its wheels: the Ford Mustang Shelby GT640 “Golden Snake”. The name absolutely reflects the mission of the company!

The 5.4 liter V8 has been prescribed a large 2.3 liter compressor as well as a Geiger stainless steel sport exhaust system, so that the eightpointer – after a mandatory software adaptation – sends now a wailing, whopping 640 PS (series: 548 PS) to the back wheels.

The mechanically loaded engine produces 789 Nm on the crankshaft at the highest point of the torque. After picking up strength, the Mustang catapults itself in only 3.7 seconds to 100 km/h and reaches a top speed of 295 km/h.

A novelty in the Mustang history is the material of the engine block. This consists from the model year 2011 (series) namely of aluminum, which significantly reduces the load on the front axle and, thus, gives the Power Coupe a significantly better position on the road.
Equally conducive to the increased efficiency – even though it might sound baffling at first – is the carbon engine bonnet. An intake air channel was skillfully integrated into the engine bonnet, so that the airflow will be optimally introduced to the combustion chambers.
The front spoiler lip also consists of the typically shimmering carbon fiber, while the remaining body – nomen est omen – was painted in dead gold, which lights up fascinatingly especially when the sun is low in the sky. This is contrasted by the matt black Geiger rims with ring accentuation in the color of the vehicle, which are used in the sizes 8.5×20 inch front and 10×20 inch rear. These have been fitted with super Michelin Pilot sports tires with the dimensions 255/35ZR20 and 285/30ZR20. An adjustable sports chassis from H&R provides for optimal ground grip of the handy tires. In addition, the Mustang was equipped with a high-quality sound system with EU navigation.
And: The demo vehicle is for sale! For 89,000 Euros the “Golden Snake” will change its owner.

2012 Shelby GT350 Convertible Announced

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. today introduced the limited edition 2012 Shelby GT350 during the Chicago Auto Show, being held at the McCormick Place complex. A convertible, the first since 1970, and two new body colors (red and blue) will be options for the 2012 model year. In addition, a limited production of 350 total 2012 Shelby GT350s will be built.

“Last year, we brought back the GT350 45 years after it was launched,” said Carroll Shelby, founder of Shelby American. “They look and sound just like the ones we built in 1965. We’re repeating history by offering two additional colors and building a few convertibles for the second year of production.”

Shelby American built 562 total GT350 fastback coupes in 1965; all were painted white with blue stripes. In 1966, Shelby added more color options for the hardtops. Four convertibles were also built; today they are among the most collectible Shelbys in the world.

“Delays in the delivery of the new five liter Mustang last year resulted in fewer 45th Anniversary GT350 coupes than expected in the 2011 model year,” added John Luft, president of Shelby American. “For the 2012 model year, we brought back the first GT350 convertible since 1970 and ramped up production to meet the expected demand. Our plan is to only build 350 total 2012 model year GT350s to maintain exclusivity and future collectability.”

The Shelby GT350 is a post-title program based on the Ford Mustang GT. The 2012 Shelby GT350 performance specs will be continued from the 2011 model year. Customers can choose a 430 HP normally aspirated, 525 HP supercharged or 624 HP supercharged version. An automatic transmission is optional with the normally aspirated engine, as well as a short throw shifter for the manual.

Color combinations for the 2012 Shelby GT350s include Performance White with blue LeMans stripes, Race Red with white LeMans stripes and Kona Blue with white LeMans stripes. The convertible will offer a new optional light bar; other options include a one piece drive shaft and color coordinated billet aluminum engine cap set.

“When it comes to performance of the current generation GT350, our team did a great job right out of the gate,” quipped Gary Patterson, vice president of operations at Shelby American. “The GT350 leaves its mark on the street that says ‘a Shelby was here.’ That’s why we’re packing the ’12 model with all the same performance as the 2011 Shelby’s.”

The Shelby GT350 post-title package starts at $26,995.00 (normally aspirated) and $33,995.00 (supercharged), not including the base car. Customers interested in a Shelby GT350 should contact the Shelby American sales department at (702) 942-7325 or go to www.shelbyamerican.com.
