2010 Volkswagen Golf R by ABT Sporstline
Posted by: | CommentsThe Golf sport has a new name - ABT Golf R
When ABT Sportsline deals with the VW Golf, the result is traditionally a compact super sports car. This is because the world’s largest tuner of vehicles from the Volkswagen group has given all generations of the successful Wolfsburg car an optical and technical boost. The current super Golf answers to the letter R, which announces the most important characteristics of the car: the “R” stands for “racing” - it transports the experience of ABT, which has recently defended its DTM title and won the ADAC GT Masters. Instead of the series-standard 270HP (199 kW) the engine now offers a dynamic 310HP (228 kW). With a high-speed of 261 km/h the ABT R is especially fast - and it is also capable of quick acceleration: it sprints from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
“The compact car is really good fun, particularly on corners”, states Hans-Juergen Abt. For the General Manager of ABT Sportsline each Golf is a challenge which he and his team are happy to confront: “VW gave the Golf dynamism when it was in the cradle - it defines sportiness in its class. And the Golf R is the champion of fast Golfs.” Optically, some interesting details provide the vehicle with a particularly self-confident appearance: the ABT Daytime running lights, front apron and front lip make the Bavarian car seem even more powerful and perfectly harmonise with the new CR alloy. The especially light design wheel looks exceptional on the ABT Golf R, particularly in 19 inch. Fitting high-performance tyres are, of course, also available, meaning that nothing stands in the way of the especially agile shape of the Golf sport. The newcomer to the Golf family is, of course, absolutely suitable for everyday driving and is good-natured and not touchy in heavy traffic. But look out when it let’s loose…

2010 Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion Pricing Announced
Posted by: | CommentsThe new Polo BlueMotion is available to order from Volkswagen Retailers today, with prices starting at £14,445 RRP on the road for the three-door, and £15,045 for the five-door model.
The new Polo BlueMotion adopts an all-new highly advanced 1.2-litre TDI three-cylinder common rail diesel engine developing 75 PS, and 133 lbs ft (180 Nm) of torque available from just 2,000 rpm. This new engine, combined with longer gearing through the five-speed manual gearbox, regenerative braking and an automatic Start/Stop system, help the new Polo BlueMotion emit just 91 g/km of CO2 while returning an impressive 80.7 mpg on the combined cycle. This grants the new Polo BlueMotion a theoretical range of over 800 miles on one tank of diesel.
These technological enhancements are accompanied by several cosmetic changes designed to maximise efficiency. Comprising bespoke bumpers, side skirts and an extended roof spoiler along with 15-inch ‘Greenland’ alloy wheels fitted with low rolling resistance tyres, they contribute towards making the new Polo BlueMotion among the most efficient vehicles currently available in the UK.
The Polo BlueMotion accelerates from a standstill to 62 mph in 13.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 107 mph.
Comfort levels remain high with manual air conditioning, cruise control and leather steering wheel fitted as standard. As with all models in the Polo range, a number of safety features are also fitted, including four airbags, ABS and ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme).
2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo Official Revealed
Posted by: | CommentsThe next generation of the 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo is ready for new adventures. The clever compact in rugged all-terrain look is celebrating its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. After the Polo base version presented in 2009 and the Polo BlueMotion (debut in 2010) with its superior and possibly record-breaking fuel efficiency, as well as the Polo GTI now also debuting in Geneva, the 2011 VW CrossPolo completes the series as a fourth model. With its refreshingly cheeky design, unique world of colours and features, and a higher ride height (15 millimeter gain), the five-door is very appealing as one of the most unconventional vehicles in its class.
This all-rounder is powered by extremely fuel-efficient engines with a power range from 51 kW / 70 PS to 77 kW / 105 PS. Buyers can choose from three petrol and three common rail TDI engines. Three of the six engines can be ordered with a 7-speed DSG, like the one used on vehicles such as the Polo GTI.
Fun and Cross: From special edition to production model
The new 2011 CrossPolo continues in the tradition of its successful predecessors: the Polo Fun and the first generation 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo derived from it. Originally, a production run of only 5,000 units was planned for the special edition Polo Fun, but great demand exploded all forecasts. The consequence: the step was taken from special edition to production model and to the Cross version.
Exterior: Tough qualities and lifestyle character
The rugged-sporty character of the 2011 VW CrossPolo – always produced as a five-door – are reflected in many of its details. Especially striking: the individually styled front apron – in anthracite colour - with integrated front fog lights and large air inlet at the centre. It gets a black honeycomb insert bordered by fine chrome trim. Towards its lower edge, the bumper finishes with a section in light silver with the visual appearance of underbody protection. Taken from classic Polo styling are the upper radiator grille with its chrome inlay and the VW logo integrated here; the same applies to the dual headlights with standard daytime running lights.
The side profile of the 2011 CrossPolo also shows very tough qualities. Here sporty black wheelarch extensions and coordinated body sills set the styling. The latter continue visually into the lower door area. In off-road driving and in the jungle of metropolitan parking spaces, these rugged plastic guards protect the car from damage. Fitting the character of the 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo are the 17-inch alloy wheels (“Budapest” style) in 5-spoke design with size 215/40 tyres.
Another unmistakable characteristic of the 2011 VW CrossPolo: the silver anodized roof rails. They are a traditional feature on this model, and are certainly not just decorative. They can be used to mount roof boxes and carrier systems with a weight of up to 75 kilograms. Colour coordinated with the roof railing, like on the previous model: the door mirrors that are always painted in silver. At the rear, the 2011 CrossPolo continues the rugged all-terrain look in the bumper, whose lower section is also designed in a black, rugged plastic. At its centre, a separate section painted in silver catches the eye that is styled to look like a diffuser.
Six exterior colours accentuate the powerful style of the 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo; offered exclusively on the new Volkswagen are the colours “Magma Orange“ and “Terra Beige Metallic”. Across the board, the upper areas of the bumpers and handles (door, tailgate) are painted in body colour, while the cover trim of the B and C pillars and the window frames are treated in a high-gloss black.
Interior: Exciting and versatile
The high-end interior of the 2011 VW CrossPolo is a fitting match for the all-terrain look of the exterior. Here it is primarily the two-tone fabrics of the sport seats, the rear bench and the door trim that create a friendly and youthful ambiance. Up to four different colour trims are available, depending on the exterior colour. While the outer areas of the seats are always in anthracite, customers can choose from the colours “Hot Orange”, “Orange”, “Latte Macchiato” and “Grey” for the inner seat panels and middle sections of the door trim panels. On seat contact surfaces for the back and legs the fabrics (“Dimension” pattern) all have a black webbed structure, making them more durable. The “2011 CrossPolo” signature is embroidered into the backrests of the front seats.
Throughout the cockpit materials are friendly to the touch. Take the steering wheel: It has a fine perforated leather cover; the steering wheel spokes are produced from a brushed chrome application. The seams of the steering wheel cover and the leather-trimmed parking brake handle are given the colour of the interior trim. The 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo’s high level of quality is highlighted by the instrument panel, finished in “Slush” technology with its soft surface texture that is pleasant to the touch.
The 2011 VW CrossPolo has an ample array of standard equipment. In the interior, specific standard features include height-adjustable sport seats, an asymmetrically split rear bench and backrest, pockets on the backs of the front seats and sliding drawers under them, leather-trimmed steering wheel, centre armrest in front (with storage compartment), pedal caps in aluminium look and chrome on various switches and components. The latter include the door handles, surrounds for the window lift switches and air vents. Also standard: electric adjustable and heated door mirrors, electric window lifts all around, illuminated make-up mirrors in the sun visors, multi-function display (MFA) including tyre pressure monitoring (tyre pressure monitoring system, TPMS) and central locking with RF remote control.
Estate car qualities: Cargo space increases up to 952 litres
The new 2011 CrossPolo also shows off its versatile talents when it comes to space and efficient space utilisation. As mentioned, the rear bench can be folded with a standard 60:40 split. When it is completely folded, the car’s cargo capacity increases from 280 to 952 litres. The dual cargo floor - adjustable to two height levels - creates a continuously level loading surface. Four tie-down eyes simplify secure fastening of the cargo to be transported, while two hooks in the side trim panels keep bags from tipping over.
Engine variety: Three petrol, three diesel and one 7-speed DSG
The six engines of the 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo have power levels between 51 kW / 70 PS and 77 kW / 105 PS. The entry level among the petrol engines is represented by the 70-PS version with a 1.2 litre displacement. Following at the next level is a 1.4-litre engine with 63 kW / 85 PS. The top petrol engine is the new 1.2 TSI with the mentioned 105 PS. This turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine accelerates the 2011 VW CrossPolo to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, reaches a respectable top speed of 188 km/h, yet has a combined fuel consumption of just 5.5 litres of fuel (equivalent to 128 g/km CO2). The highlight here: The Volkswagen not only attains these values in conjunction with the standard 6-speed gearbox, but also with the optional 7-speed DSG, an automatic. Also deliverable as an optional DSG version is the 2011 CrossPolo with 85 PS.
Among the quietest engines of their kind are the three common rail, direct-injection turbodiesels (TDI) fitted with a particulate filter. All engines have 1.6 litre displacement and are available at the power levels 55 kW / 75 PS, 66 kW / 90 PS and 77 kW / 105 PS. All three variants need just 4.3 litres of diesel per 100 km in combined mode and emit just 113 grams CO2 per kilometre. The 90-PS version can also be combined with the direct shift gearbox as an option; in this case, combined fuel consumption is 4.6 l/100 km. All 2011 Volkswagen CrossPolo engines meet the limits of the Euro-5 emissions standard.
Advance sales for the new Volkswagen are beginning in march. In Germany, the 2011 VW CrossPolo will already arrive at Volkswagen dealers and first customers at the end of May. Right afterwards, the market launch will continue across Europe and in Japan.
2011 Volkswagen Polo GTi First Official Image and Detail
Posted by: | CommentsVolkswagen has unveiled the first image next-generation Polo GTi. The 2011 Volkswagen Polo GTI is powered by a 1.4 liter TSI engine developing 178 hp and 250 Nm of torque, with 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. Volkswagen Golf VI GTI by MTM
Posted by: | CommentsThe GTI drivers of the sixth generation will be spoiled with MTM products, which stand more for technique rather than optics. Four power enhancement stages, beginning with 270 hp (199 kW) through the optimization of the ECU and it even goes further. In its upper stage, MTM reaches more than 300 hp through the modification of the ECU, MTM turbocharger with exhaust manifold and complete 4 pipes exhaust system. The exact characteristics are 310 hp (228 kW) and a torque of 410 Nm, with a time of 1.16 min realized on the small track of Hockenheim, top speed of about 270 km/h and 5,7 seconds from 0 to 100.
MTM provides the new GTI with 19″ sport rims in new BIMOTO 9-spoke-design which offer enough space for the MTM brake system with 380 mm discs. Last but not least, MTM advises the in-house suspension kit, which lowers the front about 30 mm.
For the ones who are only searching ‘a little bit’ more, they are in good hands at MTM. The 60 hp upgrade compared to the series car and also the 18″ sport rims in the Bimoto Design - available since the beginning of 2010 - enable a first entry into MTM high quality tuning already available from 2.698 Euros incl. taxes.
2010 Volkswagen Polo V by JE DESIGN
Posted by: | CommentsOnce again, JE DESIGN confirms that they are one of the fastest tuners. The experts from Leingarten in Germany already developed an own programme for the new VW Polo.
Customers seeking to have a more individual, dynamic look will inevitably choose the suitable body kit by JE DESIGN. The company delivers its components in the usual OEM-quality. That means that the material is made of high-quality ABS. As all components are CNC-milled, perfect fit is guaranteed. The kit for 1528 Euro including VAT includes the front spoiler with central spoiler sword in carbon look which already renders real verve when it is still parked.
The “fierce look” comes from the headlight blends and the powerful profile is enhanced with the side skirts. The rear skirt lip in carbon look is perfectly adjusted to the other parts and completes the aerodynamics kit. The rear skirt lip embraces the stainless steel double pipe of the sports muffler at the centre while the latter renders the appropriate sound to the latest appearance (599 Euro).
A main attraction is the LED daytime running light which is fitted to the vehicle front via an air inlet blend (entire set for 399 Euro). This registration-free LED daytime running light has two functions: when the dipped head lights are on, the LEDs are dimmed into parking light mode (position light). This renders a special night-look. When the dipped head light mode is off, the LEDs sparkle brighter in the daytime light mode and therefore improve the traffic safety.
The lowering springs are made for combination with the original shock absorbers (149 Euro). They lower the new polo by 35 millimetres and therefore bring more drive dynamic agility. Also the overall look is enhanced by this measure, as the little VW now seems significantly lower and looks far more daring. Customers seeking an even sportier look can opt for the KW coilover suspension made of stainless steel which can lower the car up to 65 millimetres (929 Euro).
Upgrading the wheels is elementary in automobile tuning. For its Polo programme, JE DESIGN offers the sporty-elegant wheel design “Multispoke“ which consists of entire wheel sets. JE DESIGN offers them in either 7×17 inches ET 35 or 7.5×18 inches ET 35 with tyres measuring 215/40 R17 or 215/35 R18. Moreover, the customer can choose between the finishes “shadow silver“ (in 17 inches altogether for 1809 Euro, in 18 inches for 1929 Euro) or “black matt/silver rim bead” (in 17 inches for 2260 Euro, in 18 inches for 2380 Euro). Also, an individual finish is available, e.g. in black matt with a bead in the car colour (see pictures). JE DESIGN will disclose the individual prices on demand.
In contrast to the extremely dynamic outer look of the car, the interior is especially luxurious. The leather equipment Elegance (1599 Euro) turns the cockpit into a noble travel centre. Also the steering wheel (399 Euro), the gear shift skirt and the hand break cuff (together for 179 Euro) are lined with finest leather. The colour of the leather and the seam can be chosen freely and therefore individually selected – as seen on the photographs, also ultra-suede is available in various types. Special seam stitches, as e.g. “Diamond Cut” (see images) perfect the interior – even without any surcharge. JE DESIGN offers even more individuality with embroidering a logo according to customer preference into the backrests of the front seats (79 Euro).
For even more comfort, there is a two-stage seat heating (379 Euro), electrically adjustable lordosis support for back-friendly travels (319 Euro) or the massage system in the seats (429 Euro) where the driver can indulge into a silent massage offering twelve programmes and six massage hubs.
And if there is a demand for enhancing the performance, JE DESIGN can help soon. Performance enhancements for all Diesel- and TSI-engines are already in development.
All parts are suitable for the practical five-door Polo, but also for the sporty three-door model. Of course, JE DESIGN delivers all components with a general operating licence or a component part certificate by the Technical Control Board (TÜV).
2010 Volkswagen Touran by MR Car Design
Posted by: | CommentsMR Car Design decided Winter Edition upgrade program for the Volkswagen Touran, MR Car Design decided to give the Volkswagen Touran a complete stage 1 treatment, modifying both the exterior design and the power of the engine. For this project, MR Car Design used a Volkswagen Touran equipped with a 2.0 TDI diesel engine.
The styling modifications include the white racing stripes and a new set of 19 inch alloy wheels by RC Design in a white finish with Vredestein tires of sizes 235/35 R19. Thus, you can say that they decided to only subtly modify the aspect of the Volkswagen Touran .
Moving on to the technical modifications, MR Car Design decided to install a Stoptech high performance braking system with four piston calipers as well as a sport suspension kit by KW that lowers the ride height by up to 80 millimeters. In terms of performance, the 2.0 TDI engine an ECU (Engine Control Unit) remap which, together with a custom made stainless steel sport exhaust system, manage to push the power of the engine up to 223 horsepower and 457 Nm of torque.
Unfortunately, MR Car Design did not disclose any information regarding availability or pricing.
2010 Volkswagen Golf R by B&B
Posted by: | CommentsB&B, the well-known VW and Audi tuning specialist has released its latest refining program, transforming the current Volkswagen Golf R into a hot sports vehicle. The offered program excels only at performance enhancements, but the all-rounded Golf R looks fresh even without aftermarket styling improvements.
The B&B automotive has developed its program in 3 different stages: 310hp, 324hp and 362hp. Boasting the highest stage – 362hp, the B&B VW Golf R is capable to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds flat, while reaching a top speed of over 280km/h.
B&B specialists have managed to reach these striking values by mounting a bigger turbo charger, a sport exhaust system with special downpipe and high performance sports catalysts as well as an electronic tuning. Moreover, the refined vehicle houses revised intake unit and air cooling system. In addition, B&B offers a special slim-line oil cooling system, which is designed to keep the oil temperature at proper level. B&B Golf R also benefits from special sport springs that allows lowering of up to 30mm. The meaner stance also gets underlined by the B&B 8-stroke high quality breaking system and the exclusive rims, which are available in 19- and 20-inch set.
2011 Volkswagen Golf R Official Detail
Posted by: | CommentsThe new Golf R is here. Designed by Volkswagen Individual. All-wheel driven. As the flagship of the model series it is equipped with standard Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights. Shifted manually or by optional DSG. At 199 kW / 270 PS it is the most powerful version of the model series ever built. At the same time, it is the most fuel-efficient Golf R of all times – 21 percent (!) more fuel efficient than the previous model. A high-class sports car with compact-class fuel economy. The data in detail: The Golf R sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. The Golf R performs even better when shifted with the optional direct shift gearbox (DSG): It leaves the 100-km/h mark behind it in a sensational 5.5 seconds.
The best data: While the retired Golf R32 processed 10.7 litres fuel per 100 kilometres, the new Golf R only needs 8.5 litres – 2.2 litres less! Accordingly, CO2 emissions are reduced from 255 to 199 g/km. After 100 kilometres, the automatically shifted Golf R DSG is filled with just 8.4 litres (195 g/km CO2) at the fuel pump.
The enormous efficiency gain of the new Golf R is not some magic trick; rather it is the result of intelligent downsizing. Its legendary predecessor generated its power from a displacement of 3.2 litres (”32″) and six cylinders. In the new model, this is accomplished with four cylinders and 2.0 litres of displacement – a highly advanced direct injection petrol engine with turbo-charging (TSI). At the fuel pump and on the winding mountain road, this high-tech alliance is superior to a classic six cylinder with multi-point injection. Proving that even the sound of a four cylinder can leave a strong impression are the fifth and sixth generations of the Golf GTI, also powered by a four cylinder TSI. And the Golf R - and the chrome dual tailpipes of its sound-optimized exhaust system - display a significantly broader “sound spectrum”.
The TSI’s torque characteristic is just as impressive. By comparison: The six cylinder of the previous model developed a maximum torque of 320 Newton-meters at 2,500 rpm. And that too was remarkably good. The turbo four-cylinder direct injection engine of the new Golf R, on the other hand, transfers 350 Newton-meters torque to the crankshaft, also available from 2,500 rpm, but it can maintain this peak value up to 5,000 rpm. So the new car delivers a fascinatingly high level of fundamental dynamic performance. The Golf R32 and Golf R are really only equals in one discipline; they each have a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited on the Golf R).
The new Golf R uses the EA113 series direct-injection petrol engine; its turbocharger makes it very flexible and variable right up to the highest end of the performance curve. The 1,984 cm3 TSI’s specific power is a respectable 100.3 kW / 136.6 PS per litre displacement, and its responsiveness is just as impressive. The engine’s power can be spontaneously summoned in the blink of an eye over its entire speed range. As mentioned, the engine also shows off its potential acoustically. Visually too: Its two chrome tailpipes are visible under the diffuser integrated at the centre of the bumper – an “R trait” of the previous model as well.
The four-cylinder engine develops its tremendous propulsive power via a turbocharger (up to 1.2 bar boost pressure) with intercooling. The engine, weighing in at just 152 kilograms, is controlled by a fully electronic engine management system with E-Gas. The cylinders of the four-cylinder engine have been equipped with reinforcing bolts, unlike less powerful TSI versions. Design engineers also designed stronger connecting rods that can reliably transfer the engine’s high torque to the crankshaft. Last but not least, the cylinder block was reinforced to handle the aggressive engine forces.
The Golf R transfers the TSI’s power to the road via the latest generation of Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, which is standard equipment. Compared to the version implemented in the Golf R32, the system underwent significant advanced development. Above all, power transmission between the front and rear axles – especially the all-wheel differential that operates in an oil bath – demonstrates clear advantages compared to the previous generation. The most important one: Activation of the all-wheel differential no longer requires a difference between the front and rear axle speeds.
That is because, and this is different than on the previous generation, an electric pump is being used to build pressure for the first time. The electric pump supplies oil to a hydraulic reservoir with a working pressure of 30 bar. A control module computes the ideal drive torque for the rear axle, and it uses a valve to control how much oil pressure is applied to the working pistons of the multi-plate clutch. The contact pressure at the clutch plates rises in proportion to the desired torque at the rear axle. The amount of torque that is transferred can be varied continuously by the amount of pressure applied to the clutch plates. Unlike the previous 4MOTION generation, the system operates independent of slip, since the system’s working pressure is always available. When starting up and accelerating, spinning of the wheels at the front axle is prevented more effectively, since the control module regulates torque distribution based on dynamic axle loads. In extreme cases, nearly 100 percent of the drive torque can be directed to the rear axle, a plus in terms of active safety and dynamic performance.
When it came to the running gear, development engineers adopted the first-class system of the current production Golf. This means: In front the familiar McPherson strut suspension with helical springs and telescoping shock absorbers; at the rear a multi-link suspension ensures that the standard ESP system seldom needs to intervene. The basic layout was transformed into a sport chassis with ride-height lowered 25 millimetres, and the springs, dampers and stabilisers were completely re-tuned to this new configuration. Also available as an option is DCC dynamic chassis control whose character was fully tuned to the Golf R. This system continually adapts suspension damping to the roadway and driving situation. In addition to the standard “Normal” mode, the driver can manually activate a “Sport” or “Comfort” mode.
The brake system was also modified for the Golf R’s higher level of driving performance. Instead of a 16-inch system, a 17-inch brake system is used; all brakes have internally ventilated discs and R-specific brake callipers painted a high-gloss black with R-logo. In front the discs are 345 millimetres in diameter, and 310 millimetres at the rear. The electronic stabilisation program (ESP) was also modified. It can be switched to a new Sport mode via the ESP button. During very fast and curve-filled drives – as on a circuit – the ESP system delays intervention, enabling even more responsive handling properties. The electro-mechanical power-assisted steering was given a sportier characteristic as well. If the Golf R is ordered with optional DCC dynamic chassis control, the power-assisted steering is given a specially tuned characteristic for each of the system’s driving modes (”Sport”, “Normal”, “Comfort”).
The running gear maintains its contact with the road via new 18-inch alloy wheels (”Talladega” type in “Sterling Silver” colour) with 225/40 tyres as standard equipment. The same style wheels are available in a 19-inch version with 235/35 tyres as an option. Customers can also order the 19-inch wheels in “Glossy Black”. Regardless of the colour, when 19-inch wheels are selected the headlight housings always appear completely in black, and the Golf R windows are tinted from the B-pillars back.
Like the first two generations of the Super Golf (I starting in 2002, II in 2005) - and the car’s new sister model the Scirocco R - the new Golf R also sports an entirely new set of exterior and interior features. Volkswagen designers have given the Golf R independent styling with a bundle of well-coordinated refinements, including large air scoops to meet the cooling demands of the 270-PS engine. The Golf R clearly represents the peak of the model series, and the quality of its styling follows the basic design language of “La Semplicità” set forth by the Head of Group Design, Walter de Silva.
Outside, it is customised by features such as the new “Talladega” style wheels, black brake callipers with R-logo and new bumper design. In front, three very large air intakes shape the front bumper section of the Golf R; louvres on the intakes are painted in high-gloss black, and standard LED strips that serve as daytime running lights are integrated in the two outer air intakes. Also painted in high-gloss black are the two louvres of the radiator grille. A new R-logo design appears in chrome on the right side of the grille. Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering light, included at no extra charge, illuminate the way through the night. On its sides, the Golf R is recognisable by side skirt extensions in body colour and mirror housings painted in high-gloss black.
The Golf R can be clearly made out as an independent top model at the rear as well. The rear lights, a new design, stands out along with the bumper with diffuser and centrally positioned tailpipes, R-logo and larger roof edge spoiler. They operate with standard LED technology that is visually distinctive and exhibits extremely quick response as well as long in life.
The sixth generation Golf, with its high-end interior materials, breaks through class distinctions to the next higher class. The Golf R benefits from this quality image too; its power reserves alone put it in a league of its own. Additional special upgrades developed by Volkswagen Individual highlight the car’s high-end positioning.
A key equipment option here is the newly designed “Top Sport seat system” with heated seats in front that have excellent ergonomic properties. The driver just sits down, adjusts the longitudinal and height positions of the seat, adjusts the steering wheel, buckles up, and is ready to go. The seat fits as though it were tailor-made. Here, the Golf R - together with the Golf GTI and Golf GTD - is setting standards among the international competition. The centre panels of the sport seats are upholstered in the honeycomb textured grey-black “Kyalami” design – named after the race course of the same name in South Africa; the front edge of the seat is upholstered in Titan Black fabric. The inside panels of the side supports are upholstered with crystal-grey “San Remo” micro-fibres. The rest of the seat components and the roofliner are coloured black. The new R-logo is embroidered in the front head restraints as well. Motorsport shell seats for driver and front passenger are also available as an option; they have integrated head restraints with embroidered R-logos. In this case, the centre seat panels are upholstered in the “San Remo” micro-fibre fabric. On the outside, the shell seats are upholstered with black leather.
All seams of the interior are in “Art Grey” (exception: Motorsport shell seats). As so are the decorative seams of the standard multi-function three-spoke leather steering wheel. Perforated leather is used at the top and bottom of the steering wheel, ensuring maximum hand grip. The sides of the steering wheel with their ergonomic motorsport attributes are fully trimmed in leather. Spokes in fine black piano paint add an elegant aspect that finishes the sporty image. The centre steering wheel spoke bears the R-logo. The fascinating material contrast of piano paint and chrome conveys the passion for finesse and precision in every detail of the interior.
Also re-styled are the R gearshift knob, carpet floor mats with piping in “Art Grey”, aluminium door tread plates with R-logo and the instruments with their blue pointers and a speedometer scale that reads up to 300 km/h. Stainless steel sport pedals and R-specific instrument and door accents in “Silver Lane” styling round out the custom features. Standard equipment on the Golf R also includes an automatic climate control system (”Climatronic”) and the “RCD 310″ radio-CD system (4 x 20 Watt) with MP3 player plus dual tuners.
